Last week it was Paris Fashion Week. During this week, the Japanese label Comme des Garçons, among others, showed its collection for next season. Besides showing clothes, we also saw sneakers passing by, including collaborations with Nike and ASICS.
Comme des Garçons is a well-known brand in the world of sneakers. The label has worked with Nike for decades and is responsible for a variety of sneaker designs. Also with Converse, CdG has been running a long-term collaboration where the well-known PLAY heart takes center stage. For its next collaboration, the Japanese brand is reaching back into the past.
In collaboration with ASICS, Comme des Garçons is coming out with a GEL-Lyte III. The upper of the sneaker uses a plaid motif that takes inspiration from the punk scene in 2000. The print is reminiscent of designer Vivienne Westwood, an inspiration for Rei Kawakubo, founder of CdG.
The ASICS GEL-Lyte III was designed in collaboration with Comme des Garçons Shirt, a sublabel focused more on workwear. The sneaker comes in two colorways, one red and one pink, both of which use plaid from head to toe. The sole features the Comme des Garçons Shirt logo.
