After 13 years, they are back together: the British football club Liverpool FC and adidas. In the past, Liverpool has played in adidas shirts several times, but in recent years, the team chose Nike for their kits. Starting from August 2025, this will change – much to the delight of many.
Reunion
Football's biggest romcom gets a sequel. Liverpool FC and adidas have signed a deal, making adidas the official kit sponsor of the club again from the 2025/26 season – though this was already known by the die-hard fans.
The sports brand will supply match kits, training gear, and lifestyle clothing to all the men's, women's, and youth teams, as well as to the staff of the LFC Foundation.
The partnership between Liverpool FC and adidas goes way back. From 1985 to 1996, the team played in adidas shirts, after which the famous three stripes reappeared on the "Reds" kits between 2006 and 2012. During these periods, the club won numerous trophies, including three league titles and eleven domestic cups.

The shirts from that time are among the most beloved in the club's history. The loyal Kopites, as Liverpool FC fans are called, are therefore excited about the reunion with adidas, after the team played in Nike kits in recent years.
Bjørn Gulden, CEO of adidas, about the partnership: “We are very excited that adidas and Liverpool Football Club are teaming up once again. The club is one of the biggest and most iconic names in world football with a huge fan base. We are honored to once again provide the players with cutting-edge technology to perform at the highest level."
Liverpool 2025
The announcement of the partnership comes at an exciting time for the club. Under the leadership of Arne Slot, Liverpool FC is at the top of the national league and has qualified for the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League. The women's team is also strengthening its position in the top tier of English women's football.
Billy Hogan, CEO of Liverpool Football Club, is enthusiastic as well: “Everyone at the club is incredibly excited to welcome adidas back into the LFC family once again. We have enjoyed fantastic success together in the past and created some of the most loved LFC kits of all time. It’s the perfect time for us to partner together once again and we look forward to creating more iconic kits and continuing on the pitch success, that will build on our wonderful, shared history".
First release
The first kits will be released on August 1, 2025, by adidas in the classic Liverpool kit colors. There is a strong chance that the partnership will also involve sneaker releases, as was the case with Nike, but this is yet to be confirmed.
Starting from August 1, 2025, Liverpool FC will once again play in adidas jerseys. In the past, the club, also known as 'The Reds', played in adidas kits – shirts that are still considered some of the most beloved jerseys of all time. After a 13-year period in which Nike was responsible for the kits, adidas is making a comeback.
No information has been released yet about sneaker releases, but looking at the partnership with Nike, which included several sneaker releases, we can (hopefully) expect the same from adidas.
Liverpool FC's anthem is "You'll Never Walk Alone" by Gerry and the Pacemakers. The song was originally written by Rodgers & Hammerstein for the 1945 musical Carousel, but the 1963 version by the British band is considered the club's official anthem.
