Ballet-inspired sneakers are taking over, and adidas is the latest brand to embrace the trend. Following the buzz around the PUMA Speedcat Ballet, adidas is bringing back the Taekwondo silhouette—this time with a refined, dance-inspired twist.
Originally launched in 1988 for the sport of taekwondo, the adidas Taekwondo made a comeback in 2019 with a double cupsole. Now, in 2025, it's undergoing another transformation as a sleek lifestyle sneaker: the Taekwondo Mei Ballet.
This latest version strips the design down to the essentials, removing the upper and relying solely on laces for support—mirroring the aesthetic of a classic ballet shoe. A gum sole, strategically placed on the forefoot and heel, completes the look.
Branding remains subtle yet iconic, with the signature adidas three stripes on the midfoot and additional logo details on the heel. The Taekwondo Mei Ballet will be available in three versatile colorways: 'Silver', 'White', and 'Black'.
Set to release in 2025 via adidas and select retailers, this minimalist yet fashion-forward sneaker is one to watch. Stay tuned to the Sneakerjagers release calendar for the latest updates.
The sneaker, or rather ballerina, is expected to arrive at adidas and select retailers in 2025. Keep an eye on the Sneakerjagers release calendar for updates on the release date.
