Over the years, New Balance has released a number of iconic models, dear community. Among them is the 990V2, whose story we'd like to share with you today.
New Balance
A quick look at the history books: New Balance was founded in 1906 by William J. Riley and was originally called the New Balance Arch Support Company. In the beginning, the brand designed orthopaedic insoles for better support and also the first running shoes with a wave-shaped sole. Not much later, New Balance also equipped some sports teams with their articles.
William J. Riley actually drew inspiration for his work from the chickens in his garden and their anatomy. He explained to his customers that a chicken's three-pronged leg provides the perfect balance and also incorporated this knowledge into his technologies.
Made in US 990v2
The company grew more and more over the years and launched accessories as well as shoes. In 1982, the brand released the first version of the 990 model, which was one of the most expensive shoes on the market at the time.
The 990 was designed with various technologies that made the shoe not only stable, but also cushioning and flexible. These features later became the core values of New Balance running shoes.
A few years later, in 1998, New Balance adapted the model and released the 990v2. The sneaker kept its technical structure but was introduced with an ABZORB midsole. This offered another kind of support and comfort.
In addition, the new design uses DuPont™ Engage® technology and anti-slip rubber, and there is now a clear bubble on the back of the soles.
The model has been given the name "Made in USA" because the shoes are made in America. New Balance also has a range of models called "Made in the UK" which, as the name suggests, are made in the UK.

Since its introduction, the 990V2 has received many different colorways and the silhouette has also been featured in numerous collaborations. Now the 990V2 is back on the New Balance website in a new signature grey colorway.
These kicks combine different materials alongside some grey tones, with the base made from mesh and the overlays from premium suede.
As mentioned above, the soles are equipped with ABZORB technology. This provides additional cushioning and serves to support walking and comfort.
In addition, the pair features a number of reflective accents. These can be found on the N logo on the middle side and on the tongue.
