PUMA and designer Rhuigi Villaseñor are no strangers to each other. The duo has now released two collections and now a third will also be released on April 1, 2023. The upcoming collection pays tribute to New York City and the hip-hop scene by combining signature elements from the past, present, and future. PUMA x Rhuigi Villaseñor
LA-based designer Rhuigi Villaseñor is the founder of R H U D E, which was founded in 2015. The designer employs a minimalist aesthetic while simultaneously revamping streetwear.
PUMA has worked with Rhuigi Villaseñor before, also celebrating American classics in the first and second collections. The second drop in particular was striking; it paid homage to something every New Yorker resident loves: the pizza slice.
Collection
PUMA and Rhuigi Villaseñor take us back to the 1970s with their new collection, which pays homage to b-boys, b-girls, and the vibrant city that never sleeps.
The collection includes the T7 Track Top and Track Pants, which are not only stylish but also functional for those ready to hit the dance floor and show off their best breakdance moves. In addition to the top and pants, a number of graphic t-shirts will also be released. To complete the look, bucket hats will also be available.
PUMA x Rhuigi Suede 'B-boy'
Not only will apparel items start dropping, but the classic "American Beauty," the 1968 PUMA Suede is also part of the collection. Looking at the design, we see that the sneaker retains the signature flat, thick laces. The upper is made of high-quality pink suede, which adds a cheerful spring color to the design.
The PUMA branding on the side comes in gold, while the 3-stripe logo comes in a cream hue. The heel and sole have a 'Pristine' color tint and instead of the usual logo, the numbers '19' and '91' can be found on the back of the shoe.
