As someone who’s into both football and streetwear, PUMA’s got me seriously excited with the return of an absolute classic – the PUMA King Indoor. First released in 1999, this iconic silhouette is making a comeback after nearly a decade off the radar.
The King Indoor was known for its versatility. Although it was made for indoor football and street courts, it quickly became a lifestyle favourite. With its comfy fit, premium leather, and bold design, the sneaker made its way onto the streets of Europe. From the UK to Italy, it became a subcultural symbol, sported by young trendsetters.
But the King Indoor’s influence went beyond sport. In the early 2000s, German designer Jil Sander gave the shoe a minimalist makeover, making it one of the first collaborations between fashion and sport. That moment kickstarted the trend we’re seeing now, where luxury brands and sportswear labels join forces.
Now, in 2024, PUMA’s bringing this classic back – staying true to its roots but with some subtle updates. The new version features a premium leather upper, rubber sole, and gold accents, including the iconic 'King' logo.
The PUMA King Indoor drops on 23rd November 2024 at selected retailers.
