In 1997, designer Christian Tresser took a bold step by designing the first Nike Air Max 97, inspired by the streamlined bullet trains of Japan. This OG 'Silver Bullet' colorway with its shiny silver upper and striking red accents was hugely popular right at its drop and is still since then. And now, more than 20 years later, Nike pays homage to this legendary design with a Nike Air Max 97 Futura 'Silver Bullet'.
The Air Max 97 Futura features the iconic 'Silver Bullet' look with a matte silver mesh upper and metallic silver overlays. In addition, the small red Swooshes can also be seen on the design. But there are also some new features. For instance, the Futura model has double pull tabs around the tongue and the midsole is a lot bigger than its predecessor. Also see that the lace eyelets have been enlarged, creating a more space-like look. Finally, the design is finished off with a modern black outsole.
Unfortunately, the exact release date for the Nike Air Max 97 Futura 'Silver Bullet' is not yet known, but we expect the sneaker to be available from Nike and selected retailers sometime in spring 2024. Be sure to stay tuned by checking the Sneakerjagers release calendar regularly!
