Joseph Junior Adenuga, better known by his stage name Skepta, is a British rapper, writer, and producer from Tottenham, London. Following a successful collaboration with Nike, the rapper has now teamed up with PUMA for a striking design, called the Skepta x PUMA 'Skope Forever'. In addition to this sneaker, the duo will also release a tracksuit, backpack, beanie, bodywarmer, and gloves on Saturday 18th May 2024 at 00:00.
Skepta x PUMA
In 2022, Skepta signed a contract with PUMA, marking the end of his collaboration with Nike. For many, this news came as a surprise given the popularity of his previous collabs with Nike, such as the beloved Nike Air Max 97 from 2017. Now that we've seen the first images of the brand-new silhouette, the Skepta x PUMA 'Skope Forever', it's clear that this design is impressive too.
At first glance, the design appears simple, with a black upper. But looks can be deceiving, as reflective overlays have been applied over the upper. These overlays wrap around the entire shoe, revealing abstract black mesh perforations underneath.
The same design features are echoed underfoot, where the midsole has a striking, wavy shape. In the middle of this sole sits a chrome patch, adding a touch of Y2K style.
The iridescent and metallic details pay homage to his previous designs with Nike, but also reference the thermal, rainbow-like graphics of his latest solo album, 'Ignorance Is Bliss'. This is further reinforced by the yellow and orange laces that come with the shoe. Lastly, this special colorway is completed with a fully chromed shoebox.
Collection
Alongside the Skepta x PUMA 'Skope Forever', the duo will also release clothing designed as a uniform for Skepta. This release includes the PUMA x Skepta Track Jacket and Track Pants, inspired by the brand's T7 tracksuit.
Additionally, a bodywarmer will be launched with a unique fit featuring hidden pockets. The accompanying backpack maintains the same aesthetic, designed in a black-on-black colour scheme. Completing the entire look, the collection will also feature gloves and a beanie as accessories.
