Music and sneakers - the best collabs of the last years

Music and sneakers - this has not only often worked out well in the past, but also brings together two cultures that have a lot in common. The sneaker scene we know and live today has developed over the years in close contact with other cultures. From the world of sports, the skate scene and youth culture to the music scene. Think of Run DMC, for example, which has shaped the adidas Superstar! Or all the many Jordans who danced their way through the world's hip hop videos and stages. Or the rock culture since James Dean rocked the Chucks of Converse.

No wonder that many famous musicians and artists work with the big brands and turn the sneaker game upside down every now and then. Many sneaker designs are also based on musicians, music styles, albums or songs. Today we would like to highlight some of the most popular collaborations, including names like Travis Scott, Kanye West and Pharrell Williams.

Pharrell Williams x adidas

Pharrell Williams is not only known by music fans. He also designs clothes and he has been working with adidas on and off since 2014. The result is a lot of good styles and Pharrell has already designed tennis shoes, a basketball collection and some styles together with Human Made, besides some sneakers for adidas.

No matter what Pharrell Williams sets out to do, there is always a story behind it. In the past, for example, he has celebrated the multifaceted nature of humanity in his design with adidas, and he also stands for individuality, human rights, the environment and other values. Perhaps the most famous collaboration is the various models in the Pharrell Williams x adidas NMD HU collection.

And that was exactly what Kanye wanted. In one of his earlier interviews, Kanye mentioned that children have been robbed or even injured for Air Jordan sneakers. This led to Kanye's plan that the Yeezy silhouette should be available to everyone without barriers or problems. One of the first silhouettes of the collaboration appeared in 2015 with the Yeezy Boost 750.

The most famous Yeezy, the Boost 350 V2, was released in 2016, and Kanye and adidas created a hype around their Yeezy models and made sure that perhaps everyone in the world knows the word 'Yeezy'. - spread the love for sneakers is the motto here.

Travis Scott is currently one of the most famous rappers and musicians in the world. His innovative music, characterized by atmospheric beats and experimental melodies, finds its place in almost every cosmos and inspires far beyond the hip hop scene.

Public Enemy x PUMA

Public Enemy is a hip-hop group that was one of the most influential bands on the US rap scene in the late 80s. They belong to the legendary label 'Def Jam Recordings', which helped the hip-hop scene to gain a foothold in the mainstream. Together with PUMA they celebrated the 30th anniversary of their legendary album 'Fear of a Black Planet' with two sneaker designs this year. Another great example of how sneakers and music can belong together.

This was just a small insight into the fusion of sneakers and music. Apart from the collaborations of famous artists and big brands, the connections also exist the other way round. For example, there is a song by RUN DMC called 'My adidas' which is a homage to the model of the superstar.

In addition, Vans and Size have designed different sneakers this year! Each of which is dedicated to a music group or song. The selection of bands and music styles was also chosen with social movements in mind and each shoe carries a message.
