Are ASICS true to size? Even if you know your own shoe size, sometimes when you've bought a new pair of sneakers they unfortunately don't fit right. So we're going to take a look at the different ASICS sneakers available and make sure we find the right size for you.

How to determine your own shoe size

First of all, it is important to determine your own shoe size. When you order sneakers online, it is not as easy as when you walk into a shoe shop and can try on the shoe on the spot.

Here is what you need to measure your own shoe size:

  • 2 sheets of A4 paper
  • A pencil
  • A ruler

How to calculate the dimensions of your foot:

Take a sheet of paper and the pencil, choose a wall you can stand upright against, and put your heel all the way up against it. It is best to put on the socks you will also wear in your new shoes. Secure the sheet of paper to the floor with tape or your weight and stand on it with your heel against the wall. It is best to ask someone to draw around your foot with the pencil. Once you have a nice outline, grab a ruler and measure the distance from the heel to the tip of your big toe. Record this result in centimetres.

Repeat this process on your other foot too. It may sound duplicate, but for many people, the sizes differ from one foot to another. Then take the largest foot as a reference to determine your shoe size using the appropriate table. Remember that information from different manufacturers may differ and therefore you should always follow their size charts.

The Sizing Guide for ASICS

ASICS Gel-Lyte III

The ASICS Gel-Lyte III has a well-known silhouette. The model is characterised by the split tongue and uses the materials suede and leather. The ASICS logo appears on the centre panel.

In general, ASICS sneakers fit closely, including the Asics Gel-Lyte III which has a narrow toe cap. It is therefore recommended to take half a size up.

ASICS Gel-1090

The ASICS Gel-1090 is a running sneaker designed in 2003. Gel technology provides cushioning and comfort, making it the ideal shoe for running sports.

The ASICS Gel-1090 has a regular fit and has a supple upper. Despite the fact that ASICS often fits closely, your own size is recommended for this model.

ASICS Gel-Nimbus

Compared to the Gel-Lyte III, the Gel-Nimbus 9 has a modern look. The sneaker has a mesh upper and combines overlays made of synthetic materials.

ASICS generally falls small, but since the Gel-Nimbus 9 has a wider fit and a mesh upper, a size up is not necessary.

ASICS Gel-Kayano

The Gel-Kayano 14 is one of ASICS' flagship sneakers. Designed in the 2000s, the silhouette was the first ASICS model to feature Gel technology on the outside of the sole.

The sneaker has a wide fit compared to most ASICS models. For this reason, it is also recommended to purchase your own size.

ASICS Gel-Sonoma

The ASICS Gel-Sonoma 15-50 has a striking silhouette. The model combines different materials, including mesh, leather and synthetic materials. The distinctive midsole provides cushioning and comfort.

Like the other models in ASICS' Sonoma line, the Sonoma 15-50 is fairly close-fitting. It is therefore recommended to take half a size larger.

ASICS Gel-Quantum

Both the ASICS Gel-Quantum 180 and 360 have a unique look. As with the Gel-Kayano 14, Gel technology can be seen on the outside of the midsole.

The Gel-Quantum has a standard fit and it is therefore recommended to purchase your own size.

ASICS Gel-Venture

The ASICS Gel-Venture 6 has a classic look. The sneaker comes with a mesh upper and features the ASICS logo on the centre panel.

The ASICS Gel-Venture 6 and 8 both have a regular fit. We therefore recommend choosing your own size.

ASICS Gel-Nandi

The ASICS Gel-Nandi line combines innovative technologies with a timeless design. The model is reminiscent of the Gel-Kayano 14 but has multiple dynamic overlays across the upper.

The Gel-Nandi line has a close fit. However, as the sneaker's upper is mesh and stretches well, you can also buy your own size.

ASICS Novablast

Designed as a running shoe, the ASICS Novablast has a modern look. The model has a mesh upper and a distinctive midsole.

The Novablast has a regular fit, but can be narrow at the instep, so you might be advised to size up half a size for wider feet.

ASICS Gel-Lyte V

The ASICS Gel-Lyte V takes its inspiration from its predecessor, the Gel-Lyte III. Like its predecessor, this model also has a close fit.

We therefore recommend going up a size or half a size.

ASICS Gel-NYC

Released in 2021, the Gel-NYC takes inspiration from models from the early 2000s, combining a nostalgic and timeless aesthetic with cutting-edge comfort. GELTM and FLUIDRIDETM technology apply a modern powerhouse of performance.

The Gel-NYC is known to fit perfectly to size, so there's no need to size up or down.
