In August 2023, singer J Balvin was spotted during a game of basketball with basketball player Jimmy Butler wearing an Air Jordan 3 that had not been seen before. It suggested that the Colombian reggaeton artist had a new collaboration with Nike in store for us.

J Balvin and Nike are no strangers to each other. The artist, known for songs such as 'Mi Gente,' 'Loco Contigo' and 'Bum Bum Tam Tam,' first teamed up with Nike in 2020 and released the Air Jordan 1 'Colores Y Vibras'. Since its release, multiple, colorful designs have rolled out of the duo's collaboration.
Released in September 2023, the J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 'Medellín Sunset' sneaker features a colourful colorway. The 'Rio' colorway shares the same design, but instead of a white, it has a black upper. An ombre effect is placed on the heel elements. J Balvin is known for his colorful designs, this collab is also well-reflected.
The heel features J Balvin's logo. The mudguard and overlays at the heel use the well-known 'Elephant' print, which appears on many Air Jordan 3 colorways. A red outsole supports the black midsole. At the heel, the ombre effect returns.
