Following on from the successful ASICS Gel-DS Trainer 'Art Nouveau' in 2018, ASICS and Asphaltgold have once again come together for a new joint project. The result: the ASICS x Asphaltgold EX89 'Impromptu'. You can read everything from the design to the release of this must-have sneaker below!
As you have read above, the ASICS EX89 model takes centre stage. This is inspired by the GEL Extreme from the 1980s, which was worn as a classic basketball shoe back then. Moreover, the Court silhouette is also a staple on the streets today.

Meaning of 'Impromptu'
The name Impromptu originates in the jazz world, where it is used to describe a short instrumental piece that resembles an improvisation. This playful element is essential to jazz, as it allows musicians to make music together in harmony without having to stick to a set plan.
According to Asphaltgold and ASICS, a beautiful parallel for our society: each individual goes through life focusing on their own actions, but it becomes even more beautiful and better when we also pay attention to others and work together in harmony.
ASICS x Asphaltgold EX89 'Impromptu' - the design
Moreover, this is reflected in the design of the EX89 'Impromptu'! Indeed, the trainer's versatile details and hues come together on different structural levels. For example, the lining is made of satin, while the upper consists of a mix of high-quality materials, such as nubuck, furry suede and soft leather.
In addition, the attention to detail comes to the fore with the small Asphaltgold flag label on the right outer side and the printed insoles that round out the Court silhouette.
In terms of colour nuances, Asphaltgold stays true to their style. Besides various cream shades and the calm Glacier Grey, they close the proverbial circle in typical Art Nouveau fashion, namely in Ginger Peach.
