The GEL-NYC™ is the latest silhouette from ASICS. The sneaker is only a year old, but has already captured many hearts. The silhouette takes its inspiration from previous models such as the GEL-NIMBUS™ 3, GEL-MC PLUS™ V and the GEL-CUMULUS™ 16. Learn more about the design here.
ASICS GEL-NYC™
Although the ASICS GEL-NYC™ is not as old as most ASICS silhouettes, the sneaker does have the retro look that people associate with ASICS. The model was introduced in 2023 in a collaboration with Awake NY. Not much later, the first regular releases of the silhouette appeared.
For the sneaker, ASICS pulled previous silhouettes from the archives. The model takes its inspiration from the running shoes of the 00s and combines it with the DNA of the metropolis of New York, as the name suggests.
For the model, the GEL-NIMBUS™ 3 has been used as the focal point and ASICS combines various technologies from models such as GEL-MC PLUS™ V and GEL-CUMULUS™ 16, resulting in a retro-looking sneaker with cutting-edge technologies.
The GEL™ technology in the midsole and the use of lightweight foam give the sneakers cushioning and comfort. The mesh upper allows the sneaker to breathe. A perfect sneaker for sports activities and everyday use.
Since the sneaker's introduction, the silhouette has been used in collaborations with names such as Bodega, Hidden. NY, EMMI and Cecilie Bahnsen.
