The popularity of the Nike Dunk design among skaters in the 90s led to the development of the Nike SB Dunk as the first design of the SB (Skateboarding) line in 2002.
Designed by skaters for skaters, the Nike SB Dunk became one of the most popular designs in Nike’s portfolio by being a favourite among skaters as well as sneaker enthusiasts.
The Dunk was re-engineered for skateboarding by adding a thicker, padded tongue and collar (for protection), Zoom Air cushioning in the insole (for impact support) and a grippier outsole for better board feel.
