The Air Max Plus, also known as the Air Max TN because of the Tuned Air unit in the sole, was designed by Sean McDowell. In 2017, he revealed that the first three colorways were meant to represent the sky in different phases: in the evening, at night, and at sunrise. As such, Sean took inspiration for the Air Max Plus 'Sunset' from the stunning sunsets on Florida beaches.

The design features a black TPU overlay that mimics the outline of swaying palm trees. In addition, the mesh panels at the upper contain a vibrant orange gradient to represent the fading glow of the sunset. Furthermore, the trainer's midsole displays an abstract image of the tail of a rising whale from the water. Finally, the shoe rests on Air Max cushioning, providing extra comfort with every step.

The Air Max Plus Sunset is scheduled for release in 2024. This is not the first time Nike has re-released the OG colors of this model. The last time the colors returned was in 2021 with the Nike Air Max Plus 'Reverse Sunset'.

The Nike Air Max Plus 'Sunset' drops on July 30, 2024, at 9 a.m. sharp. So make sure you keep an eye on the release calendar. In the meantime, check out other Air Max Plus colorways via the button below:

Nike is releasing the iconic 'Sunset' colorway for the Air Max Plus in 2024, which was initially released in 1998 and then again in 2018. The inspiration for the colorway comes from the stunning sunsets of Florida's beaches and features a black TPU overlay resembling palm trees swaying in the wind.

The upper mesh panels have an orange gradient hue to represent the sun's fading glow, and the midsole shank has an abstract design of a whale's tail emerging from the water. The sneaker is comfortable with Air Max cushioning units.
