Dutch label Filling Pieces, founded by Guillaume Philibert, presents its new campaign called 'Bridge The Gap'. The campaign reflects the essence of coming home, self-discovery, and cultural connection. The campaign focuses on Suriname, the birthplace of Guillaume's parents.
Bridge The Gap
The Filling Pieces 'REDISCOVERING ROOTS - EMBRACING CULTURAL UNITY' campaign tells a special story. The campaign reveals a personal journey to Suriname that is intertwined with Filling Pieces' core message, 'Bridge The Gap'. In the campaign, we see a young man rediscovering his roots in Suriname after some absence.
Titled 'Rediscovering Roots: Embracing Cultural Unity,' the video shows the main character's transformation that comes with reconnecting and embracing one's roots. The story testifies to the courage it takes to go on a journey of self-discovery and the rewards that come with it.
During the journey, we walk with the main character on a path based on the principles of unity, independence and the celebration of togetherness. The campaign invites us to take this journey, each step reflecting the ethos of “Bridge The Gap.
The collection
The 'Bridge The Gap' campaign highlights styles from the latest collection. Each design takes inspiration from Surinamese culture in its own way. The collection includes clothing, sneakers, and loafers. From varsity jackets to beige polos and loafers with unique prints - everything passes by.
One of the eye-catchers from the collection is the Gowtu loafer with the mat beater motif all over the design. The mat beater, also known as the Dagi knot, symbolizes love and friendship in Suriname. The motif also returns to the collection's quilted puffer vests, shirts, and varsity jackets.
Guillaume Philibert about the collection
Guillaume Philibert, founder and creative director of Filling Pieces, looks back on the campaign with pride. “Launching this campaign has been a very personal journey for me,” he tells Filling Pieces.
“As the son of Surinamese parents, the connection to the land of my ancestry is incredibly meaningful. It is a journey of rediscovery, a celebration of my roots, and a testament to the power of cultural unity.”
According to Guillaume, the design philosophy at Filling Pieces has always been to bridge “The Gap” and bring people together through its creations. “This campaign embodies that ethos in its purest form. It's about more than just fashion; it's about storytelling, connection and authenticity,” Guillaume said.
With the campaign, Filling Pieces not only celebrates the beauty of Surinamese heritage, but also embraces the diversity that enriches the world.
Says Guillaume, “It is a tribute to the enduring spirit of Filling Pieces - a spirit driven by creativity, inclusivity, and a commitment to positive change.”
