The iconic adidas Stan Smith gets a new variant. The sneaker, designed by tennis player Stan Smith, has received some modifications that come in handy for cycling. The adidas VeloStan Smith is available now from adidas. Read more about the sneaker below.

Especially for the cyclists among us, adidas introduces the VeloStan Smith. The classic sneaker has been redesigned for city cyclists and racing cyclists. The silhouette remains close to that of its predecessor, but features an SPD closure with two bolts for clipless pedals.

The Stan Smith is not the first adidas classic to get a cycling makeover. Previously, adidas also introduced the VeloSamba as part of adidas' cycling collection. Like the VeloSamba, the VeloStan Smith uses a two-bolt system in the midsole so avid cyclists can get on and off the bike while wearing the sneaker.

Stan Smith, former tennis player, and mastermind behind the adidas Stan Smith, is positive about the next release: “The Stan Smith sneaker journey started in 1978, and it has been a joy to watch adidas evolve and reimagine it ever since, with this latest version imagined especially for cyclists - being no different", he says in a statement.

Smith is a big fan of cycling himself and hopes to get more people excited with the release: "By bringing Stan Smith to cycling, I hope it encourages more people to discover new communities and find freedom through the bicycle."
