The best releases of 2024 Q2
The second quarter of 2024 came with a lot of special releases. Nike brought back a lot of classics, Travis Scott continued his successful collaboration with Nike, Stone Island reunited with New Balance and ASICS introduced a new silhouette.
So to make a selection of just eight sneakers was a challenge, but we did our best. Check out the eight best releases of 2024 Q2 below and vote for your favorite. Voting is open from Monday, July 1, 2024, 12:00 am to Monday, July 8, 2024, 11:59 am.
Stone Island x New Balance 574 Legacy 'Dark Green'
Following the success of the 2023 Stone Island x New Balance 574, the duo expanded their collaboration in 2024 with two colorways of the 574 silhouette. The 'Dark Green' is one of them. The sneaker is very reminiscent of its predecessor but uses darker shades of green on the upper. The tongue features the well-known Stone Island label. Get the badge in!
Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low 'Canary'
The Air Jordan 1 Low saga continues. Rapper Travis Scott and Nike are proving release after release that the duo works all too well together. 2024 did feature a unique sneaker: the Air Jordan 1 Low 'Canary'. A colorway that one does not easily expect, looking at previous releases that primarily use earth tones.
The 'Canary' colorway is inspired by the colors of Travis' high school; Elkins High School. Cactus Jack logos and the reversed Swoosh complete the release.
Futura x Nike SB Dunk Low 'Bleached Aqua'
New York graffiti artist Leonard Hilton McGurr, better known as Futura, once again joined forces with Nike. The artist has collaborated on several releases in the past, including a Nike SB release in 2003.
In May 2024, the highly anticipated Futura x Nike SB Dunk Low 'Bleached Aqua' was released. The release came in the artist's signature style that focuses on color and abstract shapes.
Nike Air 180 'Ultramarine'
Nike seems to be feeling nostalgic in 2024, bringing back one classic after another. One of them, is the Nike Air 180. The silhouette, designed by designers Tinker Hatfield and Bruce Kilgore, made its debut in 1991 in the 'Ultramarine' colorway.
Shortly after the release of the 'Ultramarine' colorway, the 'Dusty Cactus' followed and the 'Concord' colorway is also expected in 2024.
Bad Bunny x adidas Campus 'Deep Brown - Last Campus
An ode to all adidas Campus releases by artist Bad Bunny. The rapper, known for songs such as "MONACO," "ME PORTO BENITO" and "PERRO NEGRO," first collaborated with adidas in 2021. In 2024, the duo revealed that they would release one last Campus.
So said, so done. In May, the Bad Bunny x adidas Campus 'Deep Brown' was released. But no stress, the duo continues their collaboration with silhouettes like the adidas Gazelle.
Travis Scott x Air Jordan Jumpman Jack Trainer 'Sail'
Travis Scott finally unveiled his first signature silhouette this year. The Air Jordan Jumpman Jack Trainer has appeared on the artist's feet for quite some time but was first released this spring in the 'Sail' colorway during the Grammys, where the rapper also gave a performance.
The sneaker is exactly what you expected from the artist: a chunky silhouette, the reversed Swoosh and the use of earth tones.
Air Jordan 4 OG 'Military Blue'
In 2024, the Air Jordan 4 silhouette will celebrate its 35th anniversary. The sneaker was designed by iconic designer Tinker Hatfield, who is also responsible for the Air Max 1. Especially for the anniversary, Nike brought back an OG colorway: the 'Military Blue', the colorway in which the Air Jordan 4 made its debut in 1989.
A true classic and a favorite of many. The 2024 release stays close to the 1989 release. The upper uses high-quality leather and the overlays are suede.
Hidden.NY x ASICS Gel-NYC 'Jolly Green'
Another special collab this quarter, was that of Hidden.NY and ASICS. In collaboration with the New York-based label, ASICS introduced a new silhouette: the Gel-NYC. The sneaker takes its inspiration from previous models from ASICS, like the GEL-NIMBUS 3
The Hidden.NY x ASICS Gel-NYC 'Jolly Green' features a sporty look and unique details that hint at the Hidden.NY label. Since the introduction of the silhouette, many colorways of the Gel-NYC have been released, including a collaboration with Awake NY.
HUF x Nike Air Max 1 SP 'Pear'
In 2004, skate brand HUF joined forces with Nike and released a poison green Air Max 1. Especially for its 20th anniversary, the duo brought back this iconic collaboration. Except for a few details, the HUF x Nike Air Max 1 SP 'Pear' is unique to its predecessor. In addition to the 'Pear' colorway, the sneaker also appeared in 'Pink Pow' and 'Brilliant Orange' colorways.
The most notable detail of this pack is that each pair comes with a 'Bones' keychain. Bones was the doggie of HUF founder Keith Hufnagel and often spent time in the store, making this pendant a nice tribute.
Nike Air Force 1 Retro 'Linen'
Finally, the Nike Air Force 1 in the colorway 'Linen' makes its long-awaited comeback in 2024. The colorway made its debut in 2001 as part of the Nike CO.JP collection. The sneaker was re-released in small editions at Kith in 2016, but made its big comeback at Nike and other retailers this year - to the delight of many fans.
