Today marks the 4th of May, this means Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner. One of Mexico's biggest holidays. To honor this Mexican holiday adidas and Size? have brought back the adidas Archive Mexicana 'Cinco de Mayo' exclusive. The sneakers will drop on the 5th of May 2023.
What is this special holiday?
Cinco de Mayo, translates as 'Fifth of May', referencing the day that the Mexicans triumphed over the French Empire at the battle of Puebla in 1862. Led by General Ignacio Zaragoza, the victory would prove to be one of the biggest battles in the French-Mexican war. With Mexicans eventually winning the war, nowadays every fifth of may, is there celebrations all over Mexico.
The Size? adidas Mexicana 'Cinco de Mayo'
With its beginnings at the Mexico Olympics Games of 68, Mexicana is amongst the OG silhouettes of didas's heritage. With initially being a sporting shoe. The adidas Mexicana has become a classic in the history books of the three stripes. Now the two brands have come together to bring out 2 different exclusive colorways.
Both colorways are full of bold colors. The first one comes in a suede almost fully red colorway with the stripes being purple and on the heel a flash of green can be seen. The second installment being the exact opposite of the first Mexicana. This one has an almost full purple colorway with the stripes being of a red color with a flash of limegreen on the heel. Both sneakers have a nostalgic rubber gum sole and to finish it all off there is gold adidas Mexicana branding on both colorways.
Both colorways of the Size x adidas Archive Mexicana 'Cinco de Mayo' will drop on the 5th of May 2023. This drop will be a Size? exclusive, this means the sneaker will only drop on their website so be fast.
