Sean Wotherspoon is joining forces with BAPE. The Los Angeles, California-based designer is known for his 2018 collaboration with Nike and is currently running a long-term collaboration with adidas. Especially for BAPE's 30th anniversary this year, the Japanese label is teaming up with Wotherspoon.
Sean Wotherspoon
Wotherspoon is an American designer and vintage collector. At the age of 23, he founded his ROUND TWO, a vintage store in California. In 2018, he entered a Nike design competition, where he created the Air Max 1/97. The sneaker won the competition and is still considered a holy grail among sneaker lovers.
Now, Wotherspoon comes together with BAPE and brings his signature, colorful style to BAPE's designs. The 'Hidden Gems' collection includes denim jackets, jeans, plaid shirts, reversible crewnecks, reversible shirts, collectibles, and a BABY MILO® DOLL. For the collection, Wotherspoon designed a 'BOTANICAL CAMO' print that puts a twist on BAPE's iconic ABC-Camo print.
"We call this collection 'Hidden Gems'. There are details from the past to the present and details that you may not notice until you actually spend some time with these collections", Wotherspoon says in a statement. "I'm mixing my favourite vintage styles and techniques with my favourite era of BAPE®︎ to bring you the best of both worlds."
Items from the collection have a vintage, washed look. Wotherspoon and BAPE logos are embroidered on the items, such as the APE HEAD, TWO FACE, and BAPE®︎ BEE logos. The tees and sweatshirts are reversible so they can be worn two ways.
The duo also comes with an extensive collection of collectibles and accessories, including a ball pillow, a bracelet with BAPE charms, and a BABY MILO®︎ figure.
