Last week, in June 2023, Paris Fashion Week took place. Collections from high-end brands like Dior, Louis Vuitton and Vetemens were shown and never-before-seen sneaker designs appeared on the runway. From the Sacai x Nike Footscape's to the MSCHF x Crocs Yellow Boot, these were the standout looks during Paris Fashion Week 2023.
Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024
Paris Fashion Week took place during the week from 20 to 25 June 2023. During the week, the biggest brands showed their upcoming summer collections for the year 2024 and did so in spectacular ways.
Pharrell Williams Louis Vuitton debut
Paris Fashion Week got off to a great start. Pharrell Williams showed his debut collection at Louis Vuitton and packed big. The artist was appointed the new Creative Director of the high-end brand's Menswear line in early 2023, following the sudden death of Virgil Abloh in late 2021. Williams had big shoes to fill, but certainly did not disappoint.
The runway was held at the Pont Neuf bridge in central Paris. Guests including A$AP Rocky, Rihanna, Tyler, The Creator, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were in attendance. The show came with a gospel choir, back-up band and unique items. From the Louis Vuitton monogrammed tote bag to boxy fits, Pharrell showed with his debut collection how he combines streetwear and high-end fashion effortlessly, without copying Abloh's work. A runway for the books.
Dior Runway
Kim Jones celebrated his five-year anniversary as Creative Director at Dior and did so in a unique way. The show was held at the École Militaire in central Paris and came with an unusual concept. The models in the show did not walk the runway, but appeared from underneath the luminous floor.
The futuristic runway was not the only thing that impressed. For the Summer/Spring 2024 collection, Jones came up with eye-catching items. Monochrome shades were interspersed with neon colours and eye-catching details. With the collection, the designer paid tribute to the high-end brand's longstanding history, but also showed what Dior has in store for the coming years.
MSCHF x Crocs Big Yellow Boot
MSCHF and Crocs, a collab we might not have seen coming anytime soon, but here we are. During Paris Fashion Week, musician Tommy Cash was spotted wearing the MSCHF X Crocs Big Yellow Boot. A striking shoe that takes inspiration from its predecessor, MSCHF's Big Red Boot.
The Big Yellow Boot comes with an exposed upper, hinting at its collaboration with Crocs. The oversized fit makes it a unique shoe - and that's putting it mildly.
Vetements collection
After a few unstable years, especially after designer Demna's departure to Balenciaga, Vetements seems to have picked up where it left off. Demna's brother Guram Gvasalia took over and packed big for the 2024 Spring/Summer collection shown at Paris Fashion Week.
The collection showed more than 80 looks inspired by Artifical Intelligence (AI), a phenomenon that plays a big role in the fashion world anno 2023. With futuristic and dystopian designs, Vetements shows what they are good at and the brand makes a strong comeback. The term 'oversized' is an understatement, looking at the Vetements Spring/Summer 2024 collection.
AURALEE x New Balance Warped Runner
Another collab that made its debut at Paris Fashion Week was the AURALEE x New Balance Warped Runner. AURALEE and New Balance are no strangers to each other and have released several trainers in the past, including the 1906 model earlier this year.
The trainer comes with AURALEE's minimalist design and arrives in a blue and beige colourway. The design combines leather and mesh materials. The FuelCell foam midsole provides cushioning and comfort. When the sneaker will be released is still unknown. Stay up to date with our release calendar.
Salehe Bemburry x New Balance
Designer Salehe Bemburry, known for the Crocs Pollex Clog, also seems to be coming up with a new collaboration with New Balance. On his Instagram account, the designer posted a picture of a never-before-seen colorway. The New Balance 1906R comes in a colourful colorway, something typical of the collaborations between New Balance and Bemburry.
sacai x Nike Footscape
Japanese streetwear brand Sacai and Nike appear to be expanding their collaboration with the Footscape. At Paris Fashion Week, the first colourways of the outdoor-inspired model were shown. The Footscape features a chunky silhouette that embraces the functionality of the trainer and sacai's minimalist style.
Action Bronson and New Balance
Shortly after the release of the Action Bronson x New Balance 990v6 'Baklava', the rapper and chef seems to be coming up with another collaboration. During a performance in Paris, the artist was seen wearing a striking and never-before-seen 1906 colorway.
When we can expect the sneaker is still unknown. However, it does seem that New Balance has a lot of special releases coming up.
COMME des GARÇONS x Nike ACG Mountain Fly Low 2
Rei Kawakubo, founder of Japanese fashion label COMME des GARÇONS, was also present in Paris. COMME des GARÇONS is a well-known name inside and outside the trainer world and is known, among other things, for its long-standing collaboration with Converse. Now it seems the Japanese label is once again joining forces with Nike.
So appeared the first images of the COMME des GARÇONS x Nike ACG Mountain Fly Low 2, an outdoor trainer. The model appeared in three colourways that all combine white and black. The sneakers have a simple design and stay close to the fashion label's vision. In short, a release to definitely keep an eye on.
UNDEFEATED x Converse Weapon
Finally, UNDEFEATED founder Eric Peng Cheng showed the upcoming colorways of the Converse Weapon collab. The classic silhouette released in the 1980s comes in a beige and green colorway.
The UNDEFEATED x Converse Weapon has a sleek design. The upper is leather and comes with the logos of both brands. On the heel is the text 'Play Dirty', the slogan of the streetwear brand. The collab does not yet have a release date.
