In 2003, the Air Max 1 'Chili' made its debut with a striking colour combination of white, black and red. Now, for the 2023 version, subtle tweaks have been made to the classic Air Max 1 'Chili' for a fresh and contemporary look. The most noticeable difference is the light grey upper, which stands out from its predecessor.
The label on the tongue comes in white instead of red, and the Nike Air logo on the heel is now black, while it was coloured red on the 2003 design. A distinctive Swoosh still adorns the centre panel, and both the eyestays and the Air unit retain the striking red colour.
Besides the light grey upper, the design also has some other striking features. The trainer's outsole combines the colours black and white. Moreover, the midsole is given extra character by the striking red colour of the Air unit.

Nike Air Max 1 'Chili' gets oficial images - 2023
Nike announces another Air Max 1 release. The well-known 'Chili' colorway, which was released in 2003, is making a comeback. In late March 2023, the first images of the OG colorway were already released, and now Nike is showing the official images of the 'Air Max 1 Chili'. We can expect the sneaker to be released in 2023.
Shortly after the first images of the 'Chili' colorway were released, Nike now shows the official images of the sneaker. The Air Max 1 'Chili' was first released in 2003. The sneaker comes in the colours white, black, and red. Unlike its predecessor, the 2023 variant comes with a lighter grey tone on the upper.
In addition, the label on the tongue is white, instead of red. The Nike Air logo on the heel is black, whereas it was red in the 2003 version. The upper is made of mesh, and the overlays are made of soft leather. The Swoosh appears on the mid-panel. Like the eyestays and Air unit, it has a red color.
The year 2023 will be marked by Air Max 1's and Nike doesn't seem to be done yet when it comes to bringing back classic colorways. The Nike Air Max 1 'Chili' does not yet have an official release date. However, we can expect the colorway to be released in 2023.

Some differences can be seen between the 2023 version and the original model. For instance, the upper of the updated version is of a lighter shade of grey. The branding on the heel is black on the 2023 version and, finally, the tongue label is predominantly white instead of red. Broadly speaking, the original colour scheme has remained pretty much intact. The Swoosh is still of sheet red colour that the air unit also adopts. The Nike Air Max 1 'Chili 2023' is finished off by a white sole with black accents.
