Foot Locker is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024 and is packing big. Especially for this milestone, the store is coming out with the PUMA MB.01 'Referee Stripes' that uses gold details. The sneaker has no official release date yet but is expected to arrive at Foot Locker and select retailers in 2024.
Foot Locker 50 years
One of the biggest sneaker retailers is celebrating its anniversary this year. Foot Locker, founded in 1974 in California, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In recent decades, the store has grown tremendously, opening more than 2,5000 locations around the world - from New Zealand to the Netherlands.
To celebrate this milestone, Foot Locker is releasing a sneaker with PUMA. The PUMA MB.01, the signature sneaker of basketball player LaMelo Ball, was used for this collaboration. The sneaker features a black and white striped upper, reminiscent of a referee's uniform. A nod to the work uniforms of Foot Locker employees.
Placed across the silhouette are gold details symbolizing the 50th anniversary. '1 of 1' is placed on the toe box in gold, and the heel features the 'M.E.L.O.' insignia. The speckled sole gives the sneaker a unique twist, as do the dynamic stripes on the upper.
Designed specifically for the sport of basketball, the MB.01 is known for its performance capabilities. The model is designed with the latest PUMA technologies. The midsole uses NITRO™ technology where nitrogen is injected into the foam for superior responsiveness and cushioning.
Foot Locker was founded on September 12, 1974, so chances are the sneaker will also be released on the 12th. Keep an eye on the Sneakerjagers release calendar for the latest updates.
