Kyle Ng, the designer behind Brain Dead, has teamed up once again with adidas. The duo is introducing a reinterpretation of the iconic Stan Smith, just in time for the 2024 Wimbledon Championship. This new release pays homage to the legendary American tennis player Stan Smith, renowned for his historic victory at the Wimbledon Gentlemen's Singles Championship in 1972.
The Brain Dead x adidas Stan Smith 'Unstructured' draws inspiration from 1970s style, featuring a smooth brown cowhide upper instead of traditional mesh padding.
The design stays true to the classic white and green colour palette synonymous with this silhouette. The base is rendered in white, adhering to Wimbledon's strict dress code. Additionally, the base is reinforced with a subtly perforated Brain Dead logo in place of the traditional stripes.
Finally, the sneaker is completed with a heel crafted from grass-inspired fabric and green and white co-branded laces.
The exclusive launch of the Brain Dead x adidas Stan Smith is scheduled for July 6, 2024, at Dover Street Market London, followed by a special tennis event on July 7, 2024, at Cumberland Lawn Tennis Club.
