adidas presents new European Cup ball FUSSBALLLIEBE

In November 2023, adidas unveiled the new football for the European Football Championship in Germany. The ball, named 'FUSSBALLLIEBE,' which stands for 'love of football,' introduces adidas Connected Ball Technology for the first time in the tournament's history. This technology allows real-time data to be sent to the VAR (Video Assistant Referee).

The ball's design reflects the dynamics of the game, with striking black wing shapes that pop out thanks to those colourful edges, curves and dots. Bright red, blue, green and orange accents celebrate the vibes of the participating countries and the simple but great game of football.

Finally, there are detailed illustrations of the tournament's stadiums, along with the names of the host cities.

A first for the European Football Championship, the ball is equipped with adidas Connected Ball Technology. This innovation sends accurate ball data in real-time to the VAR, allowing them to make much quicker decisions during the match.

Together with Kinexon, this technology also helps with UEFA's semi-automated offside technology and makes it easier to identify individual ball contacts, reducing the time it takes to resolve fouls in the 16-metre area, such as hands.

FUSSBALLLIEBE, the official adidas European Championship ball, will be used in all 51 matches starting on 14 June 2024. The opening match will be played by host nation Germany against an as-yet-unknown opponent in Munich. You can also buy the ball yourself, though it comes with a small price tag of €150.
