1992
Robert Greenburg and his son Michael found Skechers in 1992, originally intended to be a gateway for Dr Martens into the USA, however the pair soon being creating and promoting their own line of footwear.
1993
The Chrome Dome, an urban street boot with a pre-loved look, becomes the brand’s first claim to fame.
By deploying many innovative marketing strategies, including ad space in magazines, billboards, and TV ads, the brand quickly blazes a trail in the footwear industry.
1997
Skechers has become a global name, selling in Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe, continually releasing models for sports and everyday wear.
1998
By renting out a 54,000 square foot space at the World Congress Centre of Atlanta, Skechers establishes itself as an athletic footwear powerhouse. The brand is offered its own space in Macy’s central New York location.
The brand has now also opened 20 of their own stores within the span of six years.
2001
The company enters the UK market, opening possibilities for growth in London, Germany, and Paris.
2002
Expanding exponentially in Europe, the brand releases Skechers Work, aimed at utility and service workers, and Skechers Active, a line of casual sneakers for women.
2012
The brand sets up E-commerce sites in the UK and Germany and unveils two lines of low-top sneakers and boots.
