Basketball player Walt "Clyde" Frazier recognized the 'Crack' model's potential as a basketball shoe in 1970. Due to the agreement with Frazier, the newly designed Puma Clyde was only sold in the US during the 70s. Following the termination of the contract, Puma Clyde continued to be produced as a standalone design while Puma Suede was introduced to the world.
