In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Wu-Tang x Nike Dunk High (1999), Nike is bringing back this colorway. The duo teased the collaboration last summer with a very special Instagram post.Now, over four months later, we can finally expect the release.
Wu-Tang is one of the greatest hip-hop formations of all time. In 1993, the formation, consisting of RZA, Method Man, Ol' Dirty Bastard, GZA, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, U-God, Ghostface Killah and 4th Disciple, released their debut album 'Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)'. The album is considered one of the greatest albums in hip-hop of all time.
Six years after their debut album, the rap formation released their own sneaker with Nike. Only 36 copies of the “killer bee” sneaker were released, a hint to the group's 36 chambers. In 2024, Nike is bringing back this unique release, to the delight of many sneaker lovers.
“These Dunks are important to me and the Wu-Tang legacy because of the cultural impact they’ve had since their original release,” Wu-Tang Clan member RZA said in a statement. “For many years, the sneaker world was reserved for athletes and some entertainers. Nike recognizing us in this way is a testament to hip-hop and our contribution to culture.”
Release
