We do have a very unique Nike release coming our way. The film series 'The Wizard of Oz,' which debuted in 1939, is getting its own Nike SB Dunk release. Recently, the official images of the 'Poppy Field' colorway appeared a release that stood out in its fierce use of color.
The Wizard of Oz
Less than a week after the new 'Wicked' movie, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, was launched, the official images of the Nike SB Dunk Low 'Poppy Field' were released. It pays tribute to 'The Wizard of Oz,' which in turn is closely tied to the movie 'Wicked.'
This is not the first time this film series has received its own sneaker. In 2015, the Nike SB Dunk Low appeared in a 'Dorothy' colorway, inspired by the Dorothy character from the film. The next release takes inspiration from the scene in the film where Dorothy and 'The Cowardly Lion' fall asleep in a field of flowers.
The sneaker uses a colorful print from head to toe that continues across the sole. Classic Nike branding including the Swoosh on the midsole colors pink. Additional details include the “Wicked Witch of the West” on the sole and Dorothy's “No Place Like Home” quote on the heel.
