After the great success of the Nike Zoom Vomero 5, it was time for a new runner, and not just any runner: the V5 RNR. This model is a budget Y2K runner with a retail price of just 85 euros. But can this budget runner compete with the ‘big boys’?
We at Sneakerjagers test it out for you.
The first impression
The Nike V5 RNR embraces the Y2K aesthetic currently dominating the streets. The chunky silhouette has an upper made of breathable mesh. The chunky outsole offers comfort and gives the silhouette its sporty design.
Comfort
While most comfortable runners are in the mid- or high-range in terms of price, the V5 RNR is well below the average price.
Indeed, it is often the case that there is a significant difference between budget and mid-range trainers, but the V5 RNR is really an exception to this rule: the shoe really surprised me in terms of comfort.

The sole is springy and the heavy use of mesh ensures that the shoe breathes well, making it perfect for spring and summer. Moreover, running in is unnecessary, as the fit is ideal from the first moment - something I cannot say about every trainer.
The final verdict
In my opinion, the design is somewhat simple, but otherwise I can't say anything negative about the V5 RNR. The shoe fulfils all the requirements of a 2000s runner: sporty, comfortable, chunky and easy to style - all at a low retail price.
All in all, with this model you have a stable shoe that allows you to cover comfortable kilometers. Find the best prices, available sizes and colorways in the Sneakerjagers search engine.
