Devin Booker introduced the Nike Book 1 - a lifestyle basketball shoe with a sleek design - in 2023. Since the model's introduction, several colorways have already appeared, including the 'Hike,' which was released in early April 2024. During an NBA game last weekend, Devin Booker showed off a Nike Book 1 that looks suspiciously like the Cortez worn by Forrest Gump.
Nike Book 1 'Forrest Gump'
Devin Booker, point guard with the Phoenix Suns club, has been linked to Nike for quite some time. After numerous collaborations, the basketball player came out with his own silhouette called Book 1 in 2023. The sneaker's name hints at Devin's last name. There are also book-related details incorporated into the silhouette, such as "pages" in the tab at the heel.
The new colorway of the Book 1 takes inspiration from the Nike Cortez worn by Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks, in the movie of the same name. The Nike Cortez features a white colorway with red and dark blue details. The sneaker has become a classic, and so has the movie. In 2024, the Nike Cortez 'Forrest Gump' returns and so the colorway also appears on the Nike Book 1.
The Book 1 has an upper made of canvas and leather. The lace panel has a jagged edge which hints at the Cortez. The upper is white, the Swoosh colors red and the midsole has blue details. The tongue features the Book logo. The sneaker is supported by a Zoom Air Cushion midsole that provides cushioning with every step (or dunk).
The Nike Book 1 'Forrest Gump' does not yet have an official release date. Check out the first images of the sneaker below and keep an eye on the Sneakerjagers release calendar for updates. The Nike Cortez 'Forrest Gump' will most likely drop on May 1, 2024.
