Update February 24, 2025 – Sporty & Rich reunites with adidas Originals to unveil a clothing and footwear collection inspired by the timeless appeal of iconic American colleges. Emily Oberg, founder of the New York-based label, brings the classic varsity aesthetic to the Handball SPZL and matching apparel.
The adidas Handball SPZL is released in three classic colorways: 'Night Indigo,' 'Dark Green,' and 'Shadow Red.' The sneaker features a nubuck leather construction with suede overlays and a satin lining. The Sporty & Rich logo is printed in gold on the mid-panel.
The matching apparel collection includes a crewneck sweatshirt and track pants, both available in the three sneaker colorways. Like the sneakers, the clothing features the iconic three stripes and co-branding.

Original post January 18, 2025 - Sporty & Rich, the lifestyle brand founded by Emily Oberg, has once again teamed up with adidas for a new release of the Handball Spezial. This collaboration, which has been successful multiple times in the past, introduces three new colorways: 'Night Indigo', 'Dark Green', and 'Shadow Red'.
The pack is expected to drop in the spring of 2025 and will be available at both adidas and selected retailers.
This new collection features the minimalist aesthetic typical of Sporty & Rich. The sneakers are made of premium nubuck for a luxurious feel, while the overlays of premium suede offer a refined finish.
The sneakers have a monochromatic design, with different colors running through the upper, from the tongue to the heel and toe box. White accents, such as the Three Stripes on the side panel and the Sporty & Rich logo on the tongue, create a nice contrast with the muted base colors.
A standout detail is the golden Sporty & Rich branding on the side of the shoes, replacing the traditional "Handball Spezial" text. This adds a touch of luxury to the retro design. The shoes are finished with a semi-transparent gum rubber outsole.
