Nike is collaborating for the first time with Slawn, a British-Nigerian artist known for his bold and colorful works. The duo is releasing two pairs of Air Max 90 colorways, both featuring elegant details. The exact release date for the sneakers is still unknown.
For those unfamiliar with artist Slawn, here's a brief introduction. Olaolu Slawn, born Olaolu Akeredolu-Ale, is an artist from Lagos. He co-founded the clothing brand Motherlan with friends, which attracted the attention of Virgil Abloh. When the artist moved to London in 2018, his works quickly gained recognition from names like Rolex, Louis Vuitton, and Rimowa.
His striking graffiti designs gained rapid attention, and in 2023, Slawn was chosen to design the BRIT Awards trophy, making him the youngest artist ever to do so. Last year, he unveiled his first exhibition, titled 'I present to you, Slawn.' His work also caught the eye of Nike.
Although Nike or Slawn have yet to comment on the collaboration, the first images of the collab have already surfaced. The release comprises two Nike Air Max 90 colorways: 'Sail Speckle' and 'Black Speckle'. The sneakers are constructed from sturdy leather with embossed drawings.
The sneakers feature custom mudguards, paint splatters, and imperfectly shaped Swooshes. Silver and gold eyestays complete the design, adding a touch of luxury to the bold look.
According to sources at Complex, we can expect the collaboration to drop in March 2025. Check out the first images of the release below and keep an eye on the Sneakerjagers release calendar for updates.
