Pharrell Williams and his Louis Vuitton debut collection - Paris Fashion Week 2023

On 20 June 2023, Pharrell Williams showed his first collection at Louis Vuitton during Paris Fashion Week 2023. The catwalk was accompanied by a gospel choir, an accompanying band and lots of celebrities. Pharrell, of course, had big shoes to fill after the death of Virgil Abloh. However, he seems to have succeeded! Read more here:

It was an important week for Pharrell Williams. The singer, producer and future creative director of Louis Vuitton showed his first designs at Paris Fashion Week. Earlier this year, Pharrell was named the successor to Virgil Abloh, who passed away at the end of 2021. Many eyes were therefore on Pharrell and his designs during Paris Fashion Week.

Taking on Abloh's role is no easy task, but Pharrell Williams seems like the right person for the job. The Louis Vuitton catwalk took place on the historic Pont Neuf Bridge. Guests like A$AP Rocky, Rihanna, Tyler, The Creator, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were present. The show ended with a performance by Jay-Z and Williams.

The catwalk was a spectacle - and that's putting it mildly. Pharrell's iconic streetwear style was embraced in his own way in the new Louis Vuitton collection, resulting in unique pieces. The collection shown included thoughtful references to his own heritage, statement pieces, leather shoppers and also some unique shoe designs.

A recurring element of the collection was the check camo print, which was seen on several garments and accessories. Another eye-catching piece was the red and white Louis Vuitton Monogram shopper that rapper Tyler, The Creator managed to grab before the show.

The collection offered a perfect balance between streetwear and high-end fashion without copying Abloh's work. References to hip-hop, Pharrell's "skateboard" initiative and Louis Vuitton's classic designs were uniquely brought into the garments, and this combined with a glitzy show made it a catwalk for the books.
