Nike Kyrie is a successful line of basketball shoes. Kyrie Irving belongs to one of the top American basketball players of all time and his Nike sneakers are also very popular. Check out all the models from the Kyrie line below and read everything you need to know about them.
NBA Star Kyrie Irving
Kyrie Irving is an American professional basketball player and currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets. He was named Rookie of the Year after being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011. In addition, Kyrie is a seven-time All-Star, three-time member of the All-NBA team and won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016.
In 2014, Nike dropped the first model of the Kyrie sneaker line. Since then, a slew of models have been added to the line, which have been popular with basketball players time and time again. Check out all the models below in chronological order of releases.
Kyrie 1
Nike unveiled Kyrie's debut signature sneaker, the Kyrie 1, in December 2014. The first colorway 'Dream' was designed by Leo Chang. The 'Deceptive Red' colorway followed a month later. The Kyrie 1 features the Nike Zoom Air forefoot cushioning and Hyperfuse construction. The design also includes personal details like the '#2' detail in Irving's handwriting that can be seen on the heel. His signature is also added on the tongue.
Nike Kyrie 2
The Kyrie 2 could be ordered through NikeID (now Nike By You) in December 2015. Again, Chang designed the basketball shoe. What's special about the model is the curved midsole and outsole that were designed to improve lateral movement. The shoe also featured Zoom Air cushioning for added support.
Kyrie 3
The Kyrie 3 also released in the month of December, but in the year 2016. The sneaker debuted in the black 'Black Ice' colorway once again designed by Chang. The shoe included new features, such as the 'traction pods' at the forefoot.
Nike Kyrie 4
The Nike Kyrie 4 'Confetti' was inspired by the confetti Irving carried from the final game of the 2017 NBA Finals, when his Cleveland Cavaliers team lost to the Golden State Warriors. Nike said the sneaker reminds him of "how it felt to not get the win". The sneaker was released on 15 December 2017 and the 'Black/White' colorway was released on 20 December 2017. A new designer Benjamin Nethongkome has designed the Kyrie 4. The shoe consists of a Flex Groove outsole, which is made to cut better.
Kyrie Low
Nike released the Kyrie Low in June 2018. The model is a lower version than the Kyrie 1 to 4. The Low version includes a Zoom cushioning unit that provides softer support to the feet.
Nike Kyrie 5
Nethongkome developed a new containment system for the 2018 Kyrie 5, which offered additional containment on top of the Air Zoom Turbo unit. This combination increased responsiveness and also added a new traction pattern for increased stability. A standout series is the SpongeBob Squarepants collection where each character from the series was used as inspiration for a shoe from the series.
Kyrie Low 2
In 2019, several colorways appeared on the second version of the Low variant: the Kyrie Low 2. The sneaker features the signature Zoom Air unit at the heel and forefoot. In addition, the curved outsole provides more grip in multiple directions.
Nike Kyrie 6
The Nike Kyrie 6 contained a number of new elements. For example, the sneaker had a larger Air Zoom Turbo bag which was more flexible and responsive. In addition, the model includes the Traction 360 grip. Nike released the Preheat collection in 2019. This series included shoes inspired by 11 cities: Beijing, Berlin, Guangzhou, Houston, Los Angeles, Manila, Miami, New York City, Shanghai, Taipei and Tokyo.
Kyrie 7
The Kyrie 7 came out in 2020 with new tools. The Kyrie 7 features special techniques such as a 360-degree traction pattern, which allows players to maintain control. The sole once again wraps around the sides, which has become a hallmark of the Kyrie line. This maximises the traction of the surface when changing direction.
