In a campaign with graffiti artist Futura, Nike introduces the Nike Jam, the first breakdance sneaker. During the Olympic Games in Paris this year, breakdancing will make its debut as an Olympic sport. Enough reason, then, for its own sneaker. The Nike Jam drops on July 16, 2024, in several colorways.
Nike Jam
Ahead of the Olympics, Nike is introducing the Jam silhouette, a sneaker designed for breakers. On July 26, 2024, the Olympics will kick off in Paris. One particular sport scheduled for this year is breakdancing. Especially for this debut, Nike is releasing the Jam with an accompanying collection designed by Futura.
The Nike Jam is the product of six years of innovation from Nike. The sneaker was extensively tested in the Nike Sports Research Lab with input from breakdancers at all levels of the sport. The sneaker maximizes dancers' ability to glide across smooth surfaces, concrete, and asphalt.
The Nike Jam uses a drop-in foam midsole. The rubber cupsole provides traction and grip. With the sneaker, Nike pays tribute to the sport that has meant a tremendous amount to the brand. The 'Black Gum' colorway is inspired by the turntable and microphone used by hip-hop DJs and MCs.
The 'Dark Driftwood' colorway hints at the cardboard on the floor at dance competitions. The third colorway 'White' was created in collaboration with Futura and brings his iconic Break Train piece from 1980 to life on the silhouette. Futura is also the designer of the accompanying collection, including federation kits for the United States, Korea, and Japan.

The Jam is a beautiful, brand-new model that’s been created from the ground up for what the dancers themselves want to perform and feel comfortable in.”
Release
The Nike Jam and accompanying apparel collection will drop at Nike and select retailers on July 16, 2024. The USA, Korea, and Japan federation kits will be available worldwide on August 1, 2024. The Futura x Nike Jam 'White' will drop in the fall of 2024.
