Nike is dropping an Air Max 'Surplus Supply' pack in 2021. This pack includes the Air Max 90 and the Air Max 95. For years, sneaker brands have taken inspiration for their designs from military gear. Camouflage prints are regularly used on sneakers, but also different materials or extra additions. This time, Nike also took several elements from army uniforms as inspiration. Curious which ones? Check out the Nike Air Max 'Surplus Supply' pack below.
Air Max 90 'Surplus Supply' | DD5354-222
The first model included in the pack is the Air Max 90. In 2020, Nike already released three different colorways on the AM90 in a 'Surplus' pack. The shoes contain materials that are suitable for all weather conditions. This new AM90 design also features sturdy materials that should withstand any weather condition.
Furthermore, the sneaker contains soft materials in different colours. The khaki green stands out, as well as the different shades of grey that fit well with the army theme. What also stands out is the shroud perched on the tongue that you can remove. Some say the idea comes from some collabs with Travis Scott. Also on the shroud perched are several numbers in a font that is reminiscent of the military style. This font is also used in orange on the Air bubble in the sole. This bright colour can also be seen on the swoosh on the toe and the logo on the tongue. The orange is probably derived from MA-1 flight jackets.

The army theme is also clearly visible on the Air Max 95 sneakers. What immediately stands out is the 'pocket' on the tongue. Many think that this is also derived from the Travis Scott collabs. The pocket is also reminiscent of army trousers, the font is also in the same army style.
The colourway features the same green and grey colours as the AM90. The green, suede toe and bottom layer of the sneakers stand out on this model as well. What does differ is the transparent synthetic material next to the tongue. The AM95 also features orange details on for example the Nike logos and swooshes.
