Kendrick Lamar's iconic Halftime Super Bowl outfit

Kendrick Lamar brought the heat to the Super Bowl LIX halftime show – not only with his music but also with his impressive outfit. The rapper wore a striking jacket by Martine Rose and iconic Nike Air DT Max ’96 ‘Colorado Away’ sneakers. SZA and Serena Williams also took the stage in outfits of the same caliber.

A jacket full of stories

For the Super Bowl performance of Kendrick, Martine Rose created a varsity jacket featuring the logo of Lamar’s communications company, pgLang, on the back, patches, and the text "Gloria" on the chest – a subtle reference to his recent album GNX (2024).

The jacket was full of thoughtful details, such as hand-stitched words and quotes like "I Deserve It All" (from Man at the Garden), "Peekaboo," and G.National patches – a nod to the car after which the album is named.

KDW was also featured on the jacket, possibly referencing his real name, Kendrick Duckworth. Rose was even mentioned in one of his songs, where Lamar raps: "Wear Martine when I board jets / They sardines and I’m big fish, eat caviar when I’m depressed." The jacket was paired with blue bootcut jeans from Celine, creating a stylish yet effortless look.

SZA in Born X Raised

During his performance, Lamar was joined on stage by singer SZA, who wore an all-red look. She paired a lace-bustier-style top with a padded jacket to complete the ensemble. Serena Williams was also a surprise guest; dressed in a tennis-inspired outfit, the legendary athlete danced to Lamar's "Not Like Us."

Lamar's performance was preceded by an introduction from actor Samuel L. Jackson, after which the rapper performed several of his hits and threw multiple jabs at rival Drake.

Serena Williams in A Ma Maniére x Converse Collab

Did Serena Williams unveil an exclusive A Ma Maniére x Converse collaboration during the show? The legendary tennis star wore striking blue Converse Chuck 70s, but it was the details that made the sneakers special.

On the tongue of the left shoe shone the A Ma Maniére logo, while the right shoe bore the iconic Nike logo. The subtle Swoosh on the sides was reminiscent of A Ma Maniére and Nike's recent collaboration called “While You Were Sleeping.

And then his sneakers: just as eye-catching as the rest of his outfit. Kendrick opted for the iconic Nike Air DT Max ’96 ‘Colorado Away,’ a retro classic originally designed for NFL legend Deion Sanders.

The black-and-white design with gold accents added a sporty and edgy touch to his look. With this ensemble, he managed to blend fashion and music while also visually reinforcing his own story.

Although these sneakers were popular when they came out, they are now mostly found on the secondary market. Still, there is a good chance that Lamar's appearance will cause the demand for this model to rise again.

A performance for the books

Kendrick Lamar proved once again why he is one of the most influential artists of this generation. His halftime show was a blend of thoughtful storytelling, stunning visuals, and a performance that will be discussed for a long time.

From the surprise guest appearances to his stylish outfit and iconic sneaker choice – this was a Super Bowl moment where hip-hop and fashion came together on the world’s biggest stage.
