German soccer icon Franz Beckenbauer died at age 78

Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, Franz Beckenbauer passed away. Beckenbauer was regarded as the best, most influential German soccer player of all time, and was thus nicknamed 'Der Kaiser'. The German soccer icon brought home one blessing after another, both as a player and as a coach / manager. He was also an important player at German sports brand adidas. Beckenbauer had been ill for some time.

The soccer world is in mourning. Last Sunday, German soccer player Franz Beckenbauer passed away after suffering from Parkinson's disease for an extended period of time. Beckenbauer was a big name in the soccer world as a player, coach, and administrator. The player started his soccer career in Munich. At the age of 20, he made his debut in the German team.

In 1972, he was appointed captain of the national team and led the team to victory in the 1974 World Cup final against the Netherlands. 'Der Kaiser' was not only a player but also a beloved coach and team manager. In 1990, Beckenbauer led the German team to victory at the World Cup, which also made him world champion as a coach.

In the 1960s, Beckenbauer signed with adidas, a deal that would make both names substantial money. Together with adidas, the soccer player came up with his own clothing line under the name "Beckenbauer. Beckenbauer was the first soccer player to have his own soccer shoe - the 'Beckenbauer'.

The collaboration of the two names extended beyond the soccer field and set the tone for subsequent collaborations with athletes. Beckenbauer passed away in the presence of his family.
