BAPE appears to be taking matters into its own hands, unveiling its first Tech Runner sneaker; the Shark Sta. BAPE recently came under fire after Nike sued the brand for copying designs. So designing its own sneaker may be a tactical move.
It can hardly be a coincidence that Nigo, the founder of BAPE, is also unveiling a completely new BAPE silhouette the same week he releases his first collaboration with Nike. BAPE, short for A Bathing Ape, has been under fire for some time for copying designs such as the Air Force 1, Air Jordan 1 High, and Nike Dunk.
The BAPE Shark Sta has a chunky and sporty silhouette. The upper is composed of mesh, leather, and suede. The sides feature the signature shark teeth, which also appear in other BAPE designs. The iconic STA logo also appears on the sole.
The sneaker appears in a green and blue colorway, featuring a camo print on the upper. It is not yet known when the BAPE Shark Sta will make its debut. However, we can expect the model in October 2024.
