Over the years, adidas has released several releases in tribute to the legendary Bob Marley. Think of the 2008 collaboration with Marley's record label, Tuff Gong, the 2021 adidas Samba in collaboration with AFC Ajax, and the recent Fear of God clothing collection. Now in 2024, they come together officially for the first time with the release of the Bob Marley x adidas SL 72.
The choice of the adidas SL 72 seems to have been inspired by a photo from 1976 showing Marley wearing exactly the same shoes, creating a nostalgic connection between past and present.
This unique version of the SL 72 boasts a sleek black base with various materials, including leather on the Three Stripes and soft suede on the toe. The midsole subtly features the colours of the Rasta flag: green, gold, and red. Marley's signature appears in gold letters on the lateral heel, while his name and a graphic image of his face grace the shoe's tongue.
