The history of Saucony and the Saucony Shadow 6000
Saucony was founded in 1898 in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. The small town lies on the river "Saucon", which obviously gave the brand its name. However, the river was not only the name giver, but also the motivation for the brand's designs. The Waves logo is clearly inspired by the constant wave motion of the river water.
The history of the Saucony Shadow 6000 began in 1991, when the brand released the sneaker primarily for runners - you could tell by the excellent heel stability, flexibility and forefoot cushioning. The sole also provided the Shadow 6000 with good comfort back then.
Saucony has been popular for their running shoes for over 40 years, but nowadays they are also well known for their designs as everyday lifestyle sneaker.
The Asphaltgold x Saucony Shadow 6000
The Asphaltgold x Saucony Shadow 6000 comes in a classic material combination of suede and particularly chunky mesh. As usual for Saucony, this kick also comes with a silver side panel in a wave shape, which on the one hand is meant to remind us of the origins of the brand, but on the other hand also of the retro flair of the silhouette.
In terms of colour scheme, the kick comes in keeping with the Accelerate Decelerate theme, with the light grey and white tones together with olive tones making a beautiful combo.
A special feature this time is that for the first time in the history of the design, there is a miniature wave logo on the mudguards.

The Asphaltgold x Saucony Shadow 6000 will drop on 14 October 2023 at 12am and will be available via Asphaltgold - online and instore. In addition to the drop, there will be a release event at the Asphaltgold store in Darmstadt, which will be accompanied by cool music from Ecuador Indio and free drinks by Fritz Cola and Peroni.
